Exploring Nature Using Math, Drawings & Writing

 The Weather this week was Awesome!  We went outside to learn about the signs of Spring, and to explore Nature by careful observations.  First, the students worked in small groups at Hula Hoop Stations, and took turns using the magnifying glasses to look closely at the ground inside the Hula Hoop area.  They then recorded their observations by drawing a picture of something they found in their Hula Hoop area, writing the corresponding numeral of how many they saw, and attempting to print the word of what they found.  Then we went for a Nature Walk and discussed signs of Spring.  The students noticed one of the trees was turning a light purple/orange colour and we talked about what plants need to survive.  They observed the trees very closely, and even found a spider and a ladybug!  It's interesting what you notice when you take the time to look closely at Nature!  Last the students were challenged to figure out which part of the hill they can roll down the fastest, and they had a ton of fun experimenting on different parts of the hills!  Below are the pictures of our amazing learning experiences:
